Students That Are Rising
S.T.A.R. Program

STAR- SSU.jpg

Established in 2011, the S.T. A. R. (Students That Are Rising) program was created with the mission to improve higher education outcomes and retention for disconnected students, who are experiencing food insecurity, are designated as homeless or housing insecure, former foster youth and those who consider themselves to need indigent support; through the use of campus-community supportive networks and resources. The program is currently in need of items including food, clothing, toiletries and financial resources. Members of the Tiger family also have the opportunity to adopt a student and provide 1-1 support with books, basic needs, mentorship, and other resources. SSU Faculty, staff, and alumni interested in adopting a current SSU student should complete the form below. You will be contacted by the program coordinator and matched with a student.
