Eligibility Criteria

The Retention Scholarship is open only to previous recipients of the Dr. Lester W. Butts Scholarship who are currently enrolled full-time at Savannah State University as sophomores, juniors, or seniors.

 

• Applicants must reside in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area.

• Applicants must demonstrate financial need by submitting a detailed invoice from the Savannah State University Bursar’s Office. The invoice must itemize tuition, fees, and other educational expenses and show all financial aid, scholarships, and loans applied to the student’s account.

• Applicants must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.

• Applicants must submit a current transcript reflecting the most recently completed semester.

• Applicants must complete and submit the Retention Scholarship Application and all required supporting documents by the stated deadline.

• Students may receive the Retention Scholarship only once per academic year.
